Women's Tennis Holds on for Non-Conference Win over Benedict on Saturday

HARTSVILLE, S.C. - The Coker University women's tennis team held on for a 4-3 non-conference win over Benedict on Saturday (Feb. 15).

Benedict took two out of three doubles matches for the doubles point, while Zoe Heed and Kelli Stinchcomb picked up a 6-3 win at No. 3 doubles over Shakendra Alston and Gabriela Zelaya.

Coker would win four of the six singles matches to secure the victory. Gabriela Del Val del Toro defeated Karina Izakova in straight sets 6-2, 6-3 at No. 3 singles, while Gracie Waldron earned a 6-2, 6-3 win over Sofia Gomez at No. 5 singles. Stinchcomb defeated Olivia Simms 6-0, 6-2 at No. 6 singles, before Heed would clinch the victory for the Cobras with a 3-6, 6-3, 6-4 come-from-behind win at No. 4 singles

The Cobras (2-0) are back in action on Wednesday (Feb. 18) to travel to Francis Marion for a non-conference match. First serve is set for 2:00 p.m.
