
Women's Tennis Picked Tenth in South Atlantic Conference Preseason Coaches' Poll
ROCK HILL, S.C. - The Coker University women’s tennis team was picked 10th in the South Atlantic Conference Preseason Coaches’ Poll, announced by the league today (Thursday, Jan. 23).

ROCK HILL, S.C. - The Coker University women's tennis team was picked 10th in the South Atlantic Conference Preseason Coaches' Poll, announced by the league today (Thursday, Jan. 23).
Wingate topped the poll with 128 points and seven first-place votes, while Tusculum was picked second with 120 points and four first-place votes. Queens (N.C.) was slated third with 116 points and the remaining first place vote, while Lenoir-Rhyne was picked fourth with 99 points. Anderson (S.C.) was picked fifth with 86 points, while Lincoln Memorial was slated sixth with 74 points. Carson-Newman was tabbed seventh with 67 points, while Newberry (eighth) and Catawba (ninth) each received 65 points. Coker (50), Mars Hill (31) and UVA-Wise (23) rounded out the poll.
The Cobras won four matches a season ago, with one win in South Atlantic Conference play. Coker returns four players from a season ago, with one freshman joining the mix this season. Included in the returning group is Charlotte Clarke, who won nine singles matches a season ago. Clarke also teamed up with Tamie Chew for eight wins at No. 1 doubles.
The Cobras open up the 2020 campaign on Feb. 6 when they host Southern Wesleyan in non-conference action. First serve is set for 3:00 p.m. from the Coker University tennis courts.
