
Cobra Women Knock off Catawba in SAC Road Win
The Cobras swept doubles play and also earned two singles wins in the victory.

SALISBURY, N.C.- Coker women's tennis earned a key South Atlantic Conference win at Catawba 5-4 on Thursday (Mar. 23).
The Cobras were able to sweep doubles play 3-0, but Catawba did not go quietly throughout singles play. Jennifer Mezei and Jenna Gainey earned an 8-4 win at No. 1, while Jennifer Ruetten and Julia Sorrells won at No. 2 by an identical 8-4 mark. Suzanna Mickey and Sarah Elliott completed the doubles sweep, winning 8-2 at No. 3.
Mezei also won her singles match at No. 2 by a score of 6-2, 2-6, 6-3, before Catawba would win the next three to tie the match at four apiece. Elliott came through at No. 6 with the 3-6, 6-4, 6-4 win to seal the victory.
The Cobras continue a tough South Atlantic Conference road stretch on Sunday (Mar. 26) when they travel to Tusculum.
