
Cobras Ground Eagles in SAC Showdown
Four wins at singles and two wins at doubles secured the 6-3 victory for the Coker women's tennis team on Friday against Carson-Newman.
JEFFERSON CITY, TENN. – The Coker College women's tennis team moved to 2-2 in South Atlantic Conference play after notching a 6-3 road win over the Carson-Newman University Eagles on Friday afternoon (Mar. 11).
In doubles action, the Cobras earned wins at No. 1 and No. 3 doubles. The tandem of Jennifer Mezei and Bailey Palmer notched the win at No. 1 doubles, while Ragan Palmer and Suzanna Mickey earned an 8-2 win at No. 3 doubles.
Mezei completed the match sweep, earning a comeback win at No. 1 singles, by a score of 2-6, 6-1, 6-1. Ragan Palmer cruised to a 6-3, 6-0 win at No. 4 singles. Mickey also came back from a set down at No. 5 singles, winning the three-setter 4-6, 6-2, 6-4. Sarah Elliott rounded things out for the Navy and Gold with a 7-5, 7-5 win at No. 6 singles.
The Cobras will be back in action on Saturday (Mar. 19) when they travel to Brevard to take on the Tornados. First serve is set for 2 p.m.
