Women's Soccer Ties Newberry

Freshman Maia Clark scored Coker's lone goal in the first half, while the Cobras tie Newberry 1-1.

Newberry, SC. - Freshman standout Maia Clark continued to find the back of the net Wednesday evening helping Coker earn a 1-1 tie with conference foe Newberry.

HOW IT HAPPENED:
Coker jumped out to an early lead on the road at Newberry, when freshman Maia Clark put her eighth goal of the year into the back of the net. Mila Rausch and Isabella Rychel each picked up an assist on the goal.

 

From there, the two teams continued to go back and forth, but neither team was able to take advantage of their opportunities throughout the remainder of the half. 

 

At the half, Coker held onto their 1-0 lead with 45 minutes to go in the night. 

 

Through the first 45 minutes, Coker registered eight shots to Newberry's three with five being on target. Newberry's Aubrey Cripe proved to be stelar in the goal all night only allowing the one goal to Clark. 

 

In the second half, it was Newberry that struck first. Allyna Gonzalez put a goal in the back of the net in the 65th minute to equalize the match. 

 

After the teams continued to battle for the next 25 minutes, neither were able to push through the decisive goal. The two ended in a 1-1 tie to conclude Wednesday nights SAC meeting.

The women are back in action on Saturday, when the Cobras head to Anderson. The match is set to start at 5 pm
