Coker Women’s Soccer Falls to Lenoir-Rhyne in Home Opener

HARTSVILLE, S.C.- The Coker University women's soccer team fell to Lenoir-Rhyne 4-0 in its home opener on Monday (Mar. 8).

The Cobras were strong defensively for the first 20 minutes of the game. Stephanie Figueiredo scored the first goal of the game for Lenoir-Rhyne on an assist from Allie Zueger in the 21st minute.  The Bears had multiple opportunities to score later on in the first half, but Coker's defense held strong cut off the opportunities. Lenoir-Rhyne took their 1-0 lead at the half.

The Bears would score three goals in the second half to put the match at its final score. Coker generated several offensive chances in the second half, but Lenoir-Rhyne was able to hold strong defensively in their own right.

Sorrel and Sturla finish with one shot apiece, while goalie Sarah Swain tallied six saves.

Coker returns to the field on Thursday (Mar. 11) to host Wingate in conference action. Kickoff is set for 4:00 p.m., with video and live stats available at www.cokercobras.com.
