Coker Women's Soccer Adds Three Recruits for the 2020 Season

HARTSVILLE, S.C. – Coker University's head women's soccer coach Garrett Linquist has announced the signings of Madison Sorrel, Mackenzie Hochreiter, and Dylan Smith for the 2020 recruiting class.

Madison Sorrel comes to Coker as a forward from New Iberia, LA.  Madison joins the Cobras from Cajun Soccer Club (CSC) in Lafayette, LA.  As a member of CSC Academy team's, Madison has helped her team reach Region III semifinals in 2019, in addition to being finalist in Louisiana State Cup in 2018 and 2019.  Madison has also been a two-year captain at New Iberia Senior High School and was voted Team MVP in 2019.  In addition to soccer, Madison is also a member of the track team at New Iberia.  She is a member of the Beta Club and has named to Honor Roll twice.  She is the daughter of Steven and Sheri Sorrel and has a younger sister Gabrielle. 

"Madison is a player and we are very excited about joining the program," said Linquist. "Madison's has a tremendous desire to continue to improve as a player and her technical ability, vision and worker bee mentality will greatly benefit the team right away.  We are thrilled to welcome Madison to Coker!"

Mackenzie Hochreiter will join the Cobras from St. Augustine, FL.  Mackenzie comes to Coker from United Soccer Alliance (USA) DA. Mackenzie has helped lead Neese High School to a conference championship as a sophomore and appearances in the Florida High School playoffs each of her four years there.  Mackenzie has also been a member of the lacrosse and track teams at Neese High School.  In addition, Mackenzie has been named to the Honor Roll at Neese while also participating in Yearbook, the Link Crew, and is the Secretary of the Best Buddies and Panthers in Kindness Club at Neese.  Mackenzie is the daughter of Carl and Melissa Hochreiter and has two younger siblings, Griffin and Olivia.

"Mackenzie is a player that we feel will come in and have a very positive impact on our program," said Linquist. "Mackenzie's style of play and desire to continue to improve as a player will really help our program move to a new level.  We are extremely excited about Mackenzie's future as a Cobra!"

Dylan Smith joins the Cobras from New Bern, NC.  Dylan comes to Coker from North Carolina FC. Dylan has helped New Bern HS reached the playoffs each of the three season as a member of the team.  Dylan was an All State Honorable Mention selection her junior year, in addition to being selected to the All-Region team, two time All-Conference selection and three time Sun Journal All Area selection.  Dylan has also been a member of the volleyball team, along with being a member of Interact Club, Health Occupation Students of America, National Technical Society, and being named to the Honor Roll at New Bern HS.  Dylan is the daughter of Gary and Doris Smith and has two sisters, Hannah and Micah.

"Dylan is someone that we identified quickly that would make a difference for our program," said Linquist.  Her ability to play anywhere along the backline and toughness that she brings to the game are qualities that will have an immediate impact for us.  We truly feel that Dylan will do great things for us in the Navy and Gold!"
