Morris Named Conference Player of the Week

ROCK HILL, S.C. – Coker women's soccer player Lizz Morris has been named the South Atlantic Conference Soccer Player of the Week, the league office announced today. Morris is the first Coker athlete to receive a weekly award from the SAC.

Morris, a goalkeeper, posted a six-save shutout to secure a 2-0 victory over Mount Olive College last week. For an encore, Morris stopped 10 more shots in a scoreless draw against Carson-Newman College. The Cobras finished the week 1-0-1 thanks to her two shutouts and 16 saves.

For the season, Morris has a 1.80 goals-against average and four shutouts. She also has 133 total saves, which rank No. 1 in the SAC as well as in the nation for NCAA Division II.

A junior from Stillwater, N.Y., Morris is a biology major with a pre-medical concentration. She is the daughter of Frederick and Karen Morris and Maria and Dave Goyer.
