HARTSVILLE, S.C. – The Coker College women's soccer team will play its first South Atlantic Conference game this Saturday (Sept. 14) against Lincoln Memorial University. In addition to the game, Coker will be hosting the second consecutive "Assist for Autism," an event to raise funds and awareness for autism-spectrum disorders. Kickoff is set for 4: 30 p.m.

The most recognized autism awareness color is light blue. To show their support and help raise awareness, the Cobras will wear light blue T-shirts during pregame warm-ups, and the Coker goalies will sport light blue jerseys during the game. Fans are encouraged to wear light blue to the game.

The Cobras will also sign a ball that will be auctioned off during the game. Donations can be made prior to and during the game. All proceeds will be given to Autism Speaks, an autism advocacy organization.

"This particular cause is one that is personal to our program, and we couldn't be happier to host it again," said head coach Dan Muns. "Last year's event was a great success, so it is our goal to top our fundraising efforts this year. We appreciate the support from the campus and community and look forward to seeing everyone decked out in blue on Saturday."

The "Assist for Autism" game came to fruition after the Coker coaching staff and players wanted to give former Coker women's soccer assistant coach Jackie DeNova a way to honor her autistic sibling, Jordan.
