
Coker Women’s Soccer Opens Season Against UNC Pembroke
The Coker women's soccer team will be looking to take down the Braves, as they host UNC Pembroke in their 2013 home opener.
HARTSVILLE, S.C. – The Coker women's soccer team will open their 2013 campaign at home on Thursday (Sept. 5) against the Braves of UNC Pembroke. The match will be video-streamed and can be viewed for free at www.cokercobras.com.
Third year head coach Dan Muns has 17 returners this season, but will be looking for his eight new additions to have an immediate impact. The Cobras will be led by sophomore forward and all-conference selection Jalynn Fortt, along with junior goalkeeper Lizz Morris who finished fourth in the nation in saves last year.
UNCP finished their 2012 season with a 10-7-3 overall record, and a 5-5-1 Peach Belt Conference record. The Braves return 10 players from last year, and will be led by offensive forward Rae-Shawna Campbell and goalkeeper Britney Bennett.
This will be the first time that the Cobras and Braves meet since 2006. The game is set for a 5:00 PM kickoff, at the Coker Soccer Field.
