
Preseason Poll Tabs Women’s Soccer Eleventh
The SAC preseason women's soccer poll was released today.
HARTSVILLE, S.C. – In its first season inside the South Atlantic Conference, the Coker College women's soccer team was voted No. 11 in the preseason coaches' poll, the league office announced today.
Coker returns sophomore forward Jalynn Fortt, a Conference Carolinas third team all-conference selection. As a freshman, Fortt started in 15 of Coker's 17 games. She was second on the team in goals, with three, and dished three assists.
Also returning for the Cobras this season are senior Rachel Solomon, a midfielder, junior goalkeeper Lizz Morris and junior defender Millie Rogers.
The Cobras' 2013 campaign begins Sept. 5 against UNC Pembroke at home. Their first-ever match in the SAC is Sept. 14, at home, versus Lincoln Memorial University.
Lenoir-Rhyne earned 10 first-place votes and 120 points overall to lead the poll. Wingate, with one first-place vote and 105 points, took second. Tusculum had 101 points and the other first-place vote to finish third.
