Women’s Soccer Lands Three More for 2012

HARTSVILLE, S.C. – Coker College women’s soccer coach Dan Muns announced today that Nicole Bass, Christina Curnias and Alexis Green have agreed to play for the Cobras.

Bass is a forward from Lumberton Senior High School in Lumberton, N.C. She was a four-sport athlete in soccer, cross country, volleyball and track. In soccer, Bass was all-conference three years and all-region for two years, as well as named team MVP and earned a coaches’ award. Nicole is the daughter of Frank and Lisa Bass.

“Nicole is a dynamic and athletic force,” said Muns. “She is a handful anywhere on the field, and we expect her to hit the ground running and make an immediate impact this fall.”

Curnias, a forward, is transferring to Coker from Franklin Pierce University, where she was named to the NE10 all-academic team as a freshman and sophomore. She is originally from Wethersfield High School in Wethersfield, Conn. Christina is the daughter of James and Susan Curnias.

“Christina comes to Coker from a national power in Franklin Pierce,” Muns said. “She has a great soccer IQ and provides quality play in the middle and attacking thirds of the field. We are looking forward to Christina bringing her experience and leadership to the program.”

Green is a goalkeeper from Mooresville Senior High School in Mooresville, N.C. In her senior season, Green tallied 178 saves, pitched 10 shutouts and allowed an average of 1.7 goals per game. Alexis is the daughter of Larry and Kathy Green.

“Lexi has all the tools you look for in a keeper,” said Muns. “She is an excellent shot stopper, can stuff the breakaway, is confident in the air, and restarts the attack very well.”
