Cobras Cage Bulldogs With 3-2 Victory

HARTSVILLE, S.C. – In the first minute of over-time, forward Danielle Goerler dribble through three Barton defenders and found the back of the net to preserve a 3-2 Conference Carolinas victory for the Coker women's soccer team.

The box score added up to five goals for the competition, but it wasn't until late in the game when the action took place.

The Cobras found themselves down two goals late in the second half, courtesy of Barton's Emily Futral and Nicole Smith.  Futral struck first in the match to put the Bulldogs up one, when she dribble through the Cobra defenders and fired a shot into the cage.  Then with approximately 15-minutes left in the game, Smith added to the lead when she launched a shot from nearly 25-yards outside of the box to find the left side of the cage.

Kelley Godbout responded for the Cobras, scoring back-to-back goals to tie the game at two a piece.  The first goal came off a pass from forward Jenna Pacyna from the left side to catch the foot of the streaking Godbout.  The second goal was beautifully placed by Jalynn Fortt, and deflected in by Godbout for her second goal of the competition.

The Cobras next match will be a non-conference matchup against visiting USC Aiken.  Coker will kick-off their homecoming game starting at 2 p.m. on Saturday October 6.
