HARTSVILLE, S.C. – Coker College head women’s soccer coach Dan Muns is pleased to announce that forward Cassie Callahan has committed to play soccer for the Cobra women in starting in the fall of 2011.

The incoming freshman from Fayetteville, N.C. was a five sport star at Cape Fear High School lettering in soccer, basketball, cross country, track and tennis. An exceptional soccer player, Callahan amassed 43 goals in her first three years of play. A two-time All-Conference selection, she was also named First Team All-Region and was named to the Fayetteville Observer All-Area Team.

“Cassie is a strong athlete and a very sound soccer player,” said Muns. “She plays back to pressure very well, loves to run at defenders and at 5-8 is a serious presence in the air. A good ball striker with both feet, we are hoping she will make some noise in the conference right away.”

One of several new faces brought in by Coach Muns, Callahan and the rest of the Cobras will be looking for great things out of their 2011 season. Coker opens the season against USC Aiken at home on September 1.
