HARTSVILLE, S.C. – The Coker women outshot the Chowan Hawks 17-1, but a stellar performance by both the Coker and Chowan goalkeepers led to a 0-0 draw in the non-conference women’s match Saturday afternoon. The match was part of the 2010 Homecoming match for Coker, while tie marks the Cobras second in as many matches.

Hawks keeper Kristy Brown was the player of the match for Chowan with eight saves in more than 120 minutes of play. Brown had the Cobras number all day stopping every offensive opportunity.

Sarah Kinsey (Windermere, Fla.), Rachel Solomon (Bluffton, S.C.), Jill Giguere (Myrtle Beach, S.C.) and Emily Morrow (Columbia, S.C.) each had three shots on the day.

Coker’s Jamie McCoy (Sumter, S.C.) squashed the Hawks best chance at a goal with a blocked shot from Alisha Terry in the box near the end of the first half.

Carrie Hudnell (Goose Creek, S.C.) benefited from a strong Coker defense to pick up the shutout in the draw.

Coker returns to action at home on Monday afternoon. The Cobras will take on Barton College in a Conference Carolinas match at 3:00 p.m. at the Coker Soccer Field.
