HARTSVILLE, S.C. - The Coker Cobras women soccer team took on Converse College Saturday evening in a Conference Carolinas match.  Both teams were looking for their first win of the season.  The fixture was a defensive battle that ended in a 1-1 draw.

The Valkyries offense managed eight shots and one goal.  The lone Converse goal was scored by sophomore forward Jana Gentry (51:31, A: Ryan).  Senior keeper Ashley Mercuri made eight saves and was instrumental in the match.

The Cobras offense took a total of 16 shots on the day, putting nine on frame.  The lone Coker goal was scored by sophomore Sarah Kinsey (Windermere, Fla.) (68:15, A: Rachel Solomon).  Cobra senior keeper Carrie Hudnell (Goose Creek, SC) made three saves.

The next match for the Cobras will be October 2, at 4:00 p.m. against Chowan University.  The match will be part of Coker’s 2010 homecoming weekend.
