HARTSVILLE, S. C. – A pair of late second half goals gave the Columbia College Fighting Koalas a 2-0 victory over the Coker Cobras in a non-conference women’s soccer match on Tuesday night.

The Cobras and the Koalas played to a 0-0 first half tie with both teams getting their fair share of goal opportunities, but in the second half the offensive pressure really picked up. There were a combined nine shots in the second half with the Koalas keeper Elise Grider recording two saves and the Cobras Carrie Hudnell (Goose Creek, S.C. ) grabbing three.

Unfortunately for the Cobras the solid defense only lasted so long, and Columbia was able to sneak in a pair of goals late in the second half.

Coker had six different players record shots in the match, while Columbia’s Clare Williamson had a goal and an assist and Jessica Martinez had the other Koala goal.

Coker will return to action on Saturday, at 3:00 p.m. to face Converse College in a Conference Carolinas match at the Coker College Soccer Field.
