LAURINBURG, N.C. – Jill Giguere (Myrtle Beach, S.C.) found Sarah Kinsey (Windermere, Fla.) with a long pass that sent Kinsey on a breakaway leading to Coker’s lone goal in the Lady Cobras 2-1 loss to St. Andrews Presbyterian College in Conference Carolinas women’s soccer action on Monday afternoon.

In a tightly contested match, St. Andrews managed to sneak a pair of goals past the Coker defense early, leaving Coker to play catch up.

The first Lady Knights goal came in the 38th minute when Becky Brandenburg (Swansboro, N.C.) sent a long shot just over the head of the Lady Cobras goalkeeper, Carrie Hudnell (Goose Creek, S.C.).

The second one came in the 53rd minute as Olivia Taylor (Fountain Inn, S.C.) found the back of the net on a one timer off rebounded save by Coker’s Kerrie Cribb (Sumter, S.C.).

The Lady Cobras finally broke through the St. Andrews defense in the 85th minute with Kinsey’s first goal of the season on the pass from Giguere.

Assisting on the Lady Knights goals were Hannah Wilson (Salisbury, N.C.) and Chelsea Ross (Newark, N.Y.).

Both goalkeepers were busy with Hudnell and Cribb combining for six saves and St. Andrews’ Becca Knott (Jacksonville, N.C.) recording three saves.

Coker returns to action on Wednesday night at 5:00 p.m. to host Mars Hill College, while St. Andrews will host Belmont Abbey on Saturday at 2:00 p.m. in their next match.
