LAURINBURG, N.C.—Six different players scored for host St. Andrews Presbyterian College in a 7-0 Conference Carolinas shutout against Coker College on Saturday’s ‘Senior Day’.

Senior Carrie Jones (Spring Hope, N.C.) is the Lady Knights lone senior this season and she highlighted her last collegiate game with her sixth career goal in a Royal Blue & White uniform. The SAPC women’s soccer team honored Jones after the match with a plaque during an on-field presentation.

Junior Sam Frazer (Goldsboro, N.C.) posted two goals for a game-high four points while sophomore Shana Schroder (Newark, N.Y.) had a three-point performance with one goal and one assist.

St. Andrews only held a slim 18-17 shot advantage but sophomore goalkeeper Becca Knott (Jacksonville, N.C.) had a game-high nine saves for the shutout. Knott finished with three shutouts in 2009. The Knights took twice as many corner kicks, 8-4.

Schroeder started the scoring outburst for St. Andrews in the 25th minute. Schroeder received a feeder pass from freshman Ramsey Vogt (Erhard, Minn.) from the left flank and ripped a shot off the left post that traveled the length of the goal and snuck inside the right post for the opening tally.

The Knights added three more goals in the final nine minutes of the first half to take a 4-0 advantage at halftime. Jones took a breakaway pass from sophomore Shayla Costa (Acushnet, Mass.) and ripped an accurate shot to the upper left hand corner of the net.

Frazer netted the final two goals of the opening stanza in a 31 second span. In the 41st minute, Frazer drilled a curling corner kick that went off a Coker defender. Frazer was credited with the goal per NCAA rules as the momentum of the kick allowed the ball to carry into the goal. Frazer struck again a half a minute later with a precise shot that went inside the right post. Schroeder picked up an assist on Frazer’s second goal.

Sophomore Chelsea Ross (Newark, N.Y.) registered SAPC’s fifth goal just after the intermission in the 49th by heading in a crossing pass from classmate Krystal Hedderman (Fredericksburg, Va.). Sophomore Allie Hester (Salisbury, N.C.) scored her first goal of the season in the 64th minute with a long shot over the goalie from 20-yard out after getting the ball from sophomore Olivia Taylor (Fountain Inn, S.C.). Junior Becky Brandenburg (Swansboro, N.C.) capped the Knights scoring in the 67th minute with a shot to the left corner of the goal from the top of the box.

Cobras’ junior starting goalie Carrie Hudnell (Goose Creek, S.C.) allowed all seven goals and had four saves on the afternoon. Junior reserve Margaret McCoy (Columbia, S.C.) made one save over the final 24 minutes.

Frazer and Hedderman finish the season tied for the team-lead with six goals. Frazer’s three assists on the year gives her a season-high 15 points.

Senior Bridget Clark (Irmo, S.C.) and freshman Jill Giguere (Myrtle Beach, S.C.) both had three shots on goal for the Cobras but Knott stopped all nine total Coker shots on frame.

St. Andrews concludes its season with a 5-11-1 overall record and a 3-7-1 ledger in the league. Coker finishes 0-17 and 0-11.
