CHARLOTTE, N.C.- The Queens women’s soccer team spread the wealth tonight against Coker with seven different players scoring goals in the 10-0 conference win at the Queens Sports Complex at Marion Diehl Park.

The Royals (3-8-1/2-2-1) started the scoring early, 1:06 in, when Katherine Johnson put a ball in front of the goal and it was miscleared by the Coker (0-9/0-5) defense.

Queens added two in just over 10 minutes to take a 3-0 lead. Amanda Wright and Lauren Vawter each picked up her second.

Kristen Wright notched her 10th and 11th goals of the season  before the end of the half. Queens held a 5-0 lead after the first 45.

Coker’s goalie Carrie Hudnell (Goose Creek, S.C.) had a great save midway through the half to deny K. Wright a great goal.

The second half was much of the same. The Royals offense continued to dominate play. Queens’ Katherine Carr  K. Wright, and Megan Sload all added goals in the second stanza.

Rose Balderson scored a pair of goals in three minutes apart. Both were outside of the 18-yard box and just out of reach of Hudnell to finish the game

The Royals will need the momentum from this win to face the No. 1 team in the Southeast region, Columbus State, on Sunday at noon, while Coker takes to the field Saturday in their 2009 Homecoming match against Southern Wesleyan at 2:00 p.m.
