Spartanburg, S.C. - The Lady Cobra soccer team just missed picking up their first victory of the season on Monday night, as they fell to the Converse Valkyries 2-1 in overtime. The loss drops the Coker women to 0-7 on the year and 0-3 in Conference Carolinas play, while Converse improves to 3-6 overall and 1-2 in the conference.

Converse was first to strike with a goal in the 20th minute and that is where the game would remain until Coker senior Jennifer Diemer (Arnold, Md.) found the back of the net off a Stephanie Leitgeb (Goose Creek, S.C.) cross with under six minutes to go in the second half sending the match into overtime.

Even with Coker keeping possession of the ball for most of the second half, Converse managed to chip a shot over Coker goalkeeper Margaret McCoy (Columbia, S.C.) in the overtime period to take home their first conference win, 2-1.

The Lady Cobras return to action on Saturday, Sept. 26, as they host Lees-McRae College. Kick-off is scheduled for 2:00 p.m.
