Hartsville, SC – Catawba College used five first half goals to firmly secure a 7-0 win over Coker College in women’s collegiate soccer on Thursday night. The shutout is the fifth one the Lady Cobras have suffered in a row. The loss drops Coker to 3-13 overall, while Catawba improves to 11-4-1 on the year.

Paige Harrington was the first to get Catawba on the board with a goal in the sixth minute. Then between the 18th and 21st minute the Indians put away four goals, with Lena Suarez and Tasha Wilhelm each getting a goal and Alyssa Retundie finding the back of the net for two goals, while Harrington and Suarez each had an assist.

In the second half, Catawba added two more goals, this time it was a goal from Kaitlyn McFarland with an assist from Erinn Westcoat and a second goal from Suarez.

Coker keeper Chelsea Beetch (Palmer, AK) may have had a tough night, but she was able to make 13 saves in the game.

The Lady Cobras return to the field on Saturday, as they host St. Andrews Presbyterian College at 2:00 p.m.
