MURFREESBORO, NC- The Coker Women’s Soccer Team dropped their first game of the season to Chowan University, 2-0, on Saturday afternoon at Hawks Soccer Field.  The loss drops Coker to 2-1 overall, while Chowan improves to 2-1.

The Hawks were paced by sophomores Ashley Bradford and Clara Danzeisen.  Each player netted one of the two goals scored by the Hawks.

The scoring started early when Bradford beat Coker goalkeeper Margaret McCoy/Columbia, SC, in the 31st minute.  Then, in the second half, Danzeisen added to the lead with a goal in the 56th minute. McCoy ended the day with seven saves.

The Hawks as they outshot the Cobras 17 to 13.  Bridget Clark/Columbia, SC, and Kathryn Friedmann/Hendersonville, TN, each had three shots on goal for the Cobras.

Coker now prepares for their first home match of the season, as they host Wingate University on Monday, September 3, at 7:00 p.m. at the Coker Soccer Field.
