Hartsville, SC- The Cobra women’s soccer team was unable to snap their losing streak, as they were defeated by the Bobcats of Lees McRae College 4-3 in overtime.  In a game dominated by offense, the Cobras were unable to break away from the Bobcats.  The scoring started early as Coker Freshman Amanda McPhail (Irmo, SC) was able to connect on a rebound given away by Bobcat goalie Brittany Bolton in the 6th minute.  Lees McRae was able to battle back from the early goal with one of their own by Tiffany Rodman in the 28th minute.  However, Kat Friedmann (Hendersonville, TN) was able to notch a goal in the score column when she received a beautiful through ball from teammate Ashley Garven (Lilburn, GA) and dribbled around the goalie for a 2-1 lead.  With five minutes left in the 1st half, Lees McRae evened the score at 2 when Maribeth Novak scored with a shot high over Cobra goalie Margaret McCoy (Columbia, SC).

The Cobras took their final lead of the match in the 2nd half when sophomore Bridget Clark (Irmo, SC) scored on a lovely goal as she sent a bending shot to the back post from the right end line.  The Bobcats responded a near two minutes later on a header by Tiffany Rodman.  Both teams battled the final 30 minutes with the half ending at 3-3.  Lees McRae then ended the overtime affair in the 99th minute with a low liner off the foot of Abby White.

The Cobras out shot the Bobcats twenty to twelve and Cobra goalie Margaret McCoy led the Cobra defense with four saves.  With the loss, the Cobras fall to 3-7 overall and 1-6 in Conference Carolinas play.  Meanwhile, Lees McRae improves to 4-8 overall, and 2-4 in Conference Carolinas action.
