Hartsville, SC- The Crusaders of Belmont Abbey College stayed atop the Conference Carolinas standings with a 7-0 win over the Cobra women’s soccer team on Tuesday night.  Belmont Abbey took control of the game from the start with three goals in the opening eleven minutes.  Lindsay Palm opened the scoring in the 6th minute on a beautiful through pass from teammate Celene Molera.  Two minutes later Celene Molera was able to capitalize on a loose ball in front of the Cobra goal to give the Crusaders a 2-0 lead.  No more then four minutes later, Lindsay Palm scored her second goal of the night on a beautiful shot into the side netting.  Erin Kolb finished off the scoring in the first half with a nifty shot off her right boot.

The cobras came out in the second half with more fight and were able to hang in with the talented Crusaders.  The play went back and forth for the first 20 minutes with both teams creating opportunities.  In the 68th minute Lakesha Bell scored the first of her two goals to extend the Crusader lead to 5-0.  Lindsay Palm then capped off a great night with her third goal of the night earning a hat trick.

With the loss the Cobras fall to 3-6 overall and 1-5 in Conference Carolinas play,
while the Crusaders improve to 8-4 overall and 4-0 in conference.
