Hartsville, SC- With just a two minutes remaining in the first ten minute overtime period, Anderson University broke the 0-0 stalemate with a goal from Virginia Cates (Byron, MI), giving the Trojans a 1-0 victory over the Coker Women’s Soccer Team. The loss drops the Cobras to 3-5 overall, and 1-4 in the Conference Carolinas, while Anderson improves to 6-2 overall, and 3-0 in the conference.

Anderson may have one the match, but Coker had more than their fair share of chances to break the game wide open. The Cobras out shot the Trojans 16-6, including eight shots on goal.

To the Trojans credit, goalkeeper Kelli Whitfield (Anderson, SC) played exceptional between the posts, turning away every Coker scoring opportunity.

The Cobras return to the field on Monday, as they host Conference Carolinas foe, Belmont Abbey. The starting whistle will sound at 5:00 p.m.
