Hartsville, SC- The Cobra women’s soccer team was defeated by the visiting Trojans of Mt. Olive by a score of 3-0. In a game consisting of two different half’s, saw the Trojans come out early with two quick strikes. Conference standout April Jacobs wasted no time putting the Trojans on the board, as she ripped a shot from 25 yards out over Coker Keeper Margaret McCoy at the 44:08 mark. Ten minutes later, Kate Painter found the back of the net with an in-swinger from the left end line giving the Trojans a 2-0 lead. The Cobras settled down and created an opportunity of their own as Bridget Clark (Irmo, SC) ripped a shot that missed just high. At the half, the Cobras were trailing 2-0.

 

At the start of the second half, Coker came out hard applying pressure up top creating multiple opportunities. Stephanie Foster (Stone Mt., Georgia) created a one on one with the goalie but was not able to connect. Coker continued to battle and dominate the 2nd half but was unable to find the back of the net. Late in the 2nd half the Trojans increased their lead to 3-0 with a goal by Lyndsay Brennan.

 

With the loss, the Cobras drop to 3-2 overall and 1-1 in the Conference Carolinas, while Mt. Olive improves to 2-3 overall and 1-0 in the conference. The Cobras return to the pitch on September 15 as they travel to take on conference opponent Erskine College.
