Hartsville, SC- Today’s Coker College homecoming Women’s soccer game proved to be a great confidence booster as they roared to a 5-1 victory over Montreat. The Lady Cobras came out strong in the fist half and used one touch soccer to dominate the early part of the game. It wasn’t too long before Bridget Clark gave the Cobras a tap in after Kathryn Friedmann took a long range shot which rebounded off the keeper. The score remained 1-0 for the rest of the first half with a couple of other chances falling to either side.

The second half seemed to start well for Montreat as Amanda Solesbee took the ball along the right side and chipped the keeper to tie the game. However this didn’t phase the Cobras as they continued to pressure Montreat’s defense. The highlight of the game came from Jessica Ingle for the Cobras. The ball came out from the Montreat penalty box right into the feet of Ingle who blasted a 30 yard shot straight into the right hand corner of the goal. Things continued to flourish for the Cobras as they soon added 3 more goals courtesy of Megan Shaver, Laura Bedenbaugh and Clark netted her second.

The final score was 5-1 to the cobras who broke a three game losing streak with this victory. The Cobras now move to 3-8 for the season. The lady Cobras next game is away at Pfeiffer on October 11,  at 2:00 p.m.
