Hartsville, SC- The Coker Women’s Soccer Team suffered their first loss in conference play at the hands of the Erskine College Flying Fleet on Saturday in women’s collegiate soccer. The Fleet easily defeated the Cobras 6-0. Erskine is now 2-6 overall, and 2-0 in the CVAC, while Coker drops to 1-4 overall, and 1-1 in the CVAC.

 

Erskine got things going early with back-to-back goals in the 12th and 13th minute. The first came when Lindsey Dangerfield found the back of the net off a rebound and the second came with an assist off the foot of Dangerfield to Molly Brown, who blasted one from just outside the 18 yard mark.

 

Kasie Sears netted the third goal for the Fleet, when she hit a one-timer from Kim Dehondt from the right side. Anna Waldon got the fourth goal for Erskine when she went right around Coker’s keeper and put the ball in the back of the net. Sears got her second goal of the night again from Dehondt, this time Sears took a one-time header into the back of the net. Heather Bellin got the sixth and final goal for Erskine with an assist from Stephanie Withey.

 

Coker goal keeper Krista Coleman had three saves in the game, while Megan Shaver had four shots.

 

The next match for the Cobras will be on Tuesday, September 19, when they host North Greenville College at 4:00 p.m., while will travel to Limestone College for a 2:00 p.m. also on Tuesday.
