WILSON, N.C. – The Barton College women’s soccer team, ranked 10th nationally and first in the Southeast Region, rebounded from Thursday’s loss at Pfeiffer with a 2-1 conquest of visiting Coker Saturday afternoon.

The Lady Bulldogs rose to 12-2 overall and 8-1 in the Carolinas-Virginia Athletics Conference while Coker slipped to 6-8 overall and 3-5 in CVAC play.

Barton took a 1-0 lead in the 18th minute when sophomore midfielder Tara Davis (Richlands, N.C.), headed in a pass from junior Jordan Carter (Nashville, N.C.). The Cobras tied it a 1-1 in the 35th minute when freshman Kathryn Friedmann ripped a shot off the crossbar that bounced into the net.

Carter cashed in the eventual game-winner at 39:39, taking a feed from sophomore Jessica Galasso (Winston-Salem, N.C.) and booting it in from 25 yards.

Barton, which has won 10 of its last 11 matches, recorded a 17-6 advantage in shots on goal. Freshman Coker keeper Jamie Swift notched 12 saves while senior Barton goalie Ashley Ross (Newport, N.C.) tallied two assists.
