Spartanburg, SC The Converse All-Stars failed to carry the momentum of the last three games into today’s match against Coker College as they gave up two goals in the opening five minutes of the match. They would fail to recover from the slow start and the hat-trick goal from Coker’s Kathryn Friedmann (Hendersonville, TN) would seal the game in the 57th minute after another Converse mistake.

Coker would get on the board in the 3rd minute of the game as Friedmann would stab a loose ball from 12 yards out past the outstretched hand of Converse goalkeeper Brandi Criscitiello (Maysville, NC). Friedmann would then score her second two minutes later with a superbly struck first-time volley that flew into the bottom corner and gave Criscitiello no chance. The score remained 2-0 until halftime with Converse squandering many good opportunities.

The second half saw Converse dominate but unable to finish from close range and would pay the price when a defensive error let Friedmann in for her hat-trick. Converse would have to wait until the last minute of play before getting on the board with a fine run and pass from Sam Chapman (Spartanburg, SC) finished off by Paige Kohler (Seneca, SC) for her 5th goal of the season.

Coker improved on the season to 6-6-0 while Converse dropped to 3-9-1 with the loss. Converse next faces top CVAC team Barton on the road this Friday at 2pm while Coker hosts Anderson on Saturday.
