Hartsville, SC- Both the Coker soccer teams took hard losses to Belmont Abbey in collegiate soccer on Saturday. The Coker women drop to 4-3 overall, and 1-1 in the CVAC, with the 2-0 loss. While the men slip to 2-3 overall and 0-2 in the CVAC after a gut wrenching 2-1 double overtime defeat.

 

The first game of the day was a defensive battle. Coker’s freshman goalkeeper Jamie Swift/ Marietta, GA had 18 saves in the game, but unfortunately could not stop everything the Crusaders kicked her way. Belmont Abbey’s Mandy Gonzalez recorded both goals for the Crusaders. The first goal coming at the 77 minute mark assisted by Lisa Perrotta, and the second at the 83 minute mark assisted by Erin Kolb.

 

The Cobra soccer teams take to the field for another CVAC match-up as they travel to Queen’s University this week. The women’s game will be on Tuesday, September 20, at 4 p.m. and the men’s game will be on Wednesday, September 21, at 4 p.m.
