Hartsville, SC- The Cobras fought hard but came up just short, losing 2-1 to Wingate University in college soccer Friday night.

 

The Bulldogs of Wingate took an early first half lead when Lisa Service/ Tyrone, N. Ireland lifted a shot over the fingertips of goalkeeper Jacque Stewart/ Cummings GA. The Cobras would battle back to tie the game at one a piece on an early second half goal by freshman Kathryn Friedmann/ Hendersonville, TN.

 

Coker would hold off the Bulldogs until late in the game when Veronica Acosta/Greenville, SC beat Stewart to take the lead and eventually the win.

 

Stewart had 11 saves in the game and Friendmann posted her first goal of her college career.

 

The Cobras return to action Wednesday August, 31 at 6 p.m. against Chowan College at the Coker College Soccer Field.
