LAURINBURG, NC—Crystal Olu-Taylor and Kara White scored 24 seconds apart in the 89th minute to lift St. Andrews over Carolinas-Virginia Athletics Conference foe Coker College, 4-2, on Tuesday afternoon. The Knights, who are undefeated in their last two, improved to 3-10-1 overall and 2-5 in the CVAC while the Cobras fell to 1-10-2 and 1-7.

Freshman Myra Miller scored her first collegiate goal at the 8:27 mark to put St. Andrews up 1-0. Olu-Taylor passed the ball to Miller, who rifled the shot from outside the box and under the Coker crossbar. The Knights had several other chances in the first frame, producing 10 of their 19 shots in the first 45-minutes, but had to settle for the one-goal lead at halftime.

The Cobras tied the game up when Andrea Bustamante/Atlanta, GA beat St. Andrews goalie Meredith Yager from 10-yards out at 63:26. Exactly four minutes later the Knights regained the lead when Krissten Zimmerman scored her third goal of the season. Sarah Caron volleyed a beautiful corner kick to Megan Zarnowiec, who headed the ball over to Zimmerman for the easy score.

Coker responded in the 73rd minute tying the game up for the second time when Megan Shaver/Athens, TN found the far left corner of the Knights net. The Cobras kept the pressure on producing seven of their nine shots in the second half but could not score again.

With 1:33 left in the game, Olu-Taylor put the Knights on top for good scoring her team-leading eighth goal and second game-winner of the season. White insured the win for St. Andrews scoring at 88:51. Tenille Inman played a big roll down the stretch for the Knights, assisting on both late goals. Yager picked up her third win in goal with three saves while Jacque Stewart/Cumming, GA had seven stops for the Cobras.

Coker takes the field again on Saturday, October 23, to face North Georgia in Hartsville at noon.
