
Cobras Win Against Lincoln Memorial at Carolina Clash
Greenwood, SC- Your Coker Cobras traveled to Lander this past Sunday to face off against 3 teams at the Carolina Clash. The first meet of the day had the Cobras taking on the Glenville State Pioneers. Sadly, this meeting saw the Cobra lose 54-0 to start the day.
The next meet of the day for the Cobras was a match-up against Ashland University. The Eagles took the lead after the 125 weight class against the Cobras with Corey Gallivan losing to a decision. The next cobra onto the mat was Stephen Spitko who won by major decision over the Eagles, which gave the Cobras a 4-3 lead in the meet. The Cobras went on to lose this match 41-4 with Spitko getting the only points on the board for the Cobras.
The final match-up for the Cobras Sunday was against the Lincoln Memorial Railsplitters. The Cobras took an early lead of the first 3 matches with Corey Gallivan, Stephen Spitko, and Frank Bianco winning their respective match ups giving the Cobras a 15-0 lead. The Railsplitters got some points back in the 149 weight class after a fall from Jamarion Whetstone. Then the Cobras put more pressure on the Railsplitters gaining another 10 points in the 157 and 165 weight class. In the 174 weight class, Malachi Mista unfortunately lost to the Railsplitters by fall. The Cobras closed the meeting with wins in 184, 197, and 285 by forfeit.
The Cobra's next outing will be on December 7th at St. Andrews.
