Cobras Compete at Conference Carolinas Developmental Tournament

The Coker University Wrestling Team traveled to Belmont Abbey to compete in the Conference Carolinas Developmental Tournament on Monday. The action saw six Cobras travel down and compete.

125lbs

At 125lbs, Coker would send out Jonte Crumpton and Weston Bare. For Weston Bare, he would advance to the constellation semi finals before losing in a 4-1 decision. As for Jonte, Jonte was able to score 5 team points on the day as he would go on take 4th place at the 125lb mark. One of Crumpton's victory's included a fall in the semi-final round of the constellation bracket as he would pin Ethan McCullough of Belmont Abbey in a total time of 3:55. 

149lbs

At 149lbs, Coker would call on Dustin Flinn, who was able to secure a 4th place finish, earning 6.5 team points for the Cobras. Flinn was able to display plenty of dominance during the match as he would secure a fall in the first round of the constellation bracket in just over two minutes, and getting a tech fall in the semi-finals of the constellation bracket.

157lbs

At 157lbs, Asher Honea was able to secure bronze for the Cobras tallying 8 team points for the Cobras. After a close battle in the quarterfinals, Honea was able to gain momentum as he stormed his way through the constellation bracket, winning by a major decision in the semi finals and a fall in under two minutes in the third place match up vs. Mount Olive's Kodey Butler.

174lbs

At 174lbs, Benjamin Newton would answer the call and get a third place for the Cobras, tallying 8.5 points for the Cobras.

Heavyweight (285)

At the Heavyweight division, Kevin Mood would take the mat for the Cobras and was able to secure a 2nd place for the Cobras securing 9 team points for the Cobras. Mood was able to defeat Lander's Hayden Lawter in the semi-final round.
