HARTSVILLE, S.C. - The Coker University wrestling team downed King University (Tenn.) for a South Atlantic Conference Carolinas victory on Sunday (Feb. 9) by a score of 34-17.

King (Tenn.) started things off with a bonus-point win at 125 pounds to take a 5-0 lead, before Omar Armengol got the Cobras back within one with a 14-3 major decision over Elijah Hicks at 133 pounds. King (Tenn.) would re-gain the lead on a decision at 141 pounds, before back-to-back forfeits at 149 by Matthew Kieta and Ryan Camp at 157 pounds would put the Cobras ahead 16-8. King would get within five at 16-11 after a decision at 165 pounds, before the Cobras would pull away with back-to-back wins by fall. Jhavon Innocent pinned Alex Mercardo in 2:50 at 174 pounds, before Corey Perkins-Willett continued his winning streak by pinning Matthew Danner in 2:22 at 184 pounds. King would pick up a forfeit victory at 197 pounds, before No. 5/11/11 Ramon Correa earned a win by forfeit at 285 pounds to close out the match.

The Cobras (7-3, 3-2 South Atlantic Conference Carolinas) return to action Tuesday night (Feb. 11) at No. 13 Newberry for a South Atlantic Conference contest. The action is set for 7:00 p.m., with video available at www.cokercobras.com.
