Wrestling Battles Through Day One at Midwest Classic

INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. - The Coker University wrestling team battled through day one at the 41st annual Midwest Classic on Saturday (Dec. 14).

No. 9/9/7 Ramon Correa led the way for the Cobras at 285 pounds, posting a win by fall (2:40) over Urbana's Nicholas Baker before defeating Dominic Tudor of Mary by decision 8-3. Correa was pinned by Mercyhurst's No. 6 Jacob Robb in the quarterfinal in his final match of the day. 

No. 14/14/15 Jhavon Innocent also posted two wins on the day at 174 pounds, starting the day with a 10-2 major decision loss to Limestone's Kenneth Price. Innocent then responded with decisions over Adams State's Gavin Davy (10-8) and Davenport's Sam Greco (9-5), before falling to Evan Foster of Minnesota State Moorhead by decision 6-4.

John Watts also contributed one win at 125 pounds, defeating Cameron Williams of Minnesota State Moorhead by technical fall 19-4 in 6:44.
