Cobras Fall to Newberry in South Atlantic Conference Carolinas Contest

HARTSVILLE, S.C. - The Coker College wrestling team fell to Newberry 29-12 on Wednesday (Jan. 30) night.

The Cobras jumped out to an early lead after John Watts took a sudden victory at 125 pounds to start the night. Watts was in a back and forth matchup that ended the third period all square at four. Watts would get takedown in the first overtime period to secure the sudden victory. Chris Poland picked up another three points at 133 pounds, dominating his way to a 7-0 decision. The next Cobra to pick up points came at 174 pounds when Bret Shurina powered his way to a 10-5 decision and later Temaris Dixon fought through a late injury to secure a 13-6 decision at 194 pounds. 

The Cobras will be back in action on Sunday (Feb. 3) when they host Queens University in a South Atlantic Conference Carolinas dual starting at 3:00 PM.
