HOW IT HAPPENED:
1st Period
The Cobras got off to a slow start at the beginning of this game with Lenoir-Rhyne getting a lead in just under a minute of play. Following that opening goal, the Bears put on the pressure as they put two more in the goal in the 3rd minute of the game. The Cobras started to come alive after the Bears ' goal lead with a beautifully worked passing routine as Mia MacMillan sent the ball to a wide-open Amanda Arguello in the circle to bring the Cobras within 2 of the Bears. Following the Cobra's opening goal, Lenoir-Rhyne went on a 3-goal run over the next 4 minutes. In the 12th minute of the period, the Cobras had a long possession in the visitor's half working the ball around the cage. Then the Cobras struck home after Kaiya Sabur found Leach Corley open in front of the goal who blasted the ball into the top corner giving the Cobras their second goal of the game. To finish out the 1st period of the game the Bears scored once more making the score 7-2 in favor of the visitors going into the 2nd period.
2nd Period
The 2nd period of the game saw Lenoir-Rhyne crank up the pressure on the Cobras. The visiting bears were able to keep the Cobras quiet for most of this period with the Cobras only able to get off 2 shots this period. The teams also split draw controls with each team winning 4 a piece. The Bears were able to score 7 goals during this period.
3rd Period
After the half-time break both teams were ready to get back at it on the field. The Bears struck first in this period to make the score 2-15. The Bears were able to score 3 more goals before the end of the 3rd period. The Cobras were kept pretty quiet on offense in this period with the home team only having 2 shots. However, the Cobras once again split draw controls with the Bears.
4th Period
The final period of this game had the most offense for the Cobras. Leah Corely got the Cobras started in the 4th period with an unassisted goal as she weaved through the Bear's defense to get her second of the day. A few minutes later Kate Halcro and Mia MacMillan connected once again as the two passed around the Bear's defense to get the Cobras their 4th goal of the game. Then to end the game Mia MacMillan followed in Corley's footsteps as she took on multiple Bear defenders and found space to deliver a beautiful shot into the corner of the net to give the Cobras their 5th goal of the game. The Final whistle blew with the Bears taking a 22-5 win over the Cobras.
