HOW IT HAPPENED:
This game started out very even with both teams trading shot for shot. The Timberwolves strike first as they scored a free position shot in the 3rd minute of the 1st period. Shortly after the Freshman, Kate Halcro, put her name on the scoresheet for the first time as she lazered the ball into the back of the net off of a Veronica Richardson assist. The game didn't stay tied for long as Northwood scored 2 unanswered goals to get a 2 goal lead with 7 minutes left in the period. Shortly after the Timberwolves got their 2-goal lead the stat leader for the last time out, Leah Corely, got her name on the scoresheet as she scored a beautiful shot into the top corner off of an Amanda Arguello assist. The Timberwolves were done yet as they scored a few more goals to give themselves a 2-6 going into the second period of the game.
At the start of the second period, Leah Corely once again found herself in prime position as she scored yet again to get the Cobras started off strong in the second period. Shortly after Corely found the net Kate Halcro got her second goal of the day of the day as she took on the defense by herself to bring the Cobras within 2. The Cobras won the following draw control and went back down on offense when Mia MacMillan got fouled in the circle and was rewarded a free position shot that she took with ease to make the scoreline 5-6. The visiting Timberwolves weren't backing down on offense as they retook a 4 goal lead with 3 quick goals. The Timberwolves got a little too aggressive after they took their lead back and earned themselves a green card giving Madeline Fontana the perfect opportunity to claw a goal back to make this a 6-9 game. To finish out the half however Northwood retook their 4-goal lead with a solo goal from Gabby Wilson to make the score 6-10 going into the half in favor of the visitors.
To get the third period started the Cobras came out hot. Mia MacMillan and Kate Halcro combined once again this season to cut the Timberwolves lead down to 3. However, the pressure from the visitor's midfield and defense dominated this period with the Cobras not able to get back down towards the visitor's goal.
Going into the 4th period the Visitors had a 17-6 lead over the Cobras. However, Kate Halcro did not give up as she scored 3 goals in the 4th period to with MacMillan assisting 2 and Fontana assisting 1 of them. This unfortunately was too little too late as the visiting Timberwolves walked away with a 17-10 win over the Cobras.
