MacMillan and Sabur lead the Cobras to a 14-6 win over the Chowan Hawks!
Murfreesboro, NC: The Coker Cobras took a little business trip to Chowan University of the Conference Carolinas. Coker won this match 14-6, led by their captain, Mia MacMillan, who had 4 goals and 2 assists.

HOW IT HAPPENED:
The Cobras started this game off strong with Leah Corley scoring a free position shot in the 2nd minute of the game to take the lead. Only 30 seconds later Veronica Richardson earned herself another free position shot for the Cobras that she dispatched with ease to give the Cobras a 2-goal lead. After a small lull in attacks, Mia MacMillan was fouled in the circle and given a free-position shot that she buried in the back of the net giving the Cobras a 3-0 lead over the Hawks. The Hawks made a late attacking surge in the first period scoring two goals in the last 3 minutes to bring the score to 3-2 in favor of the Cobras to end out the 1st period.
The second period started the Chowan giving the Cobras a huge advantage as Mia MacMillan and Kate Halcro connected to give the Cobras a 4-2 with a man up. 4 1/2 minutes into the period Kaiya Sabur was fouled in the circle and given a free-position shot that she buried to make the score 5-2. Shortly after Sabur FPS she was once again fouled in the circle where she recreated her previous goal and gave the Cobras a 4-goal lead over the Hawks. After 3 unanswered goals, the Hawks were given a free position shot of their own in the 11th minute of the 2nd that was scored calmly into the goal. At the 1:19 second mark, Leah Corley gave the Cobras a 4-goal lead as she scored her second goal of the night assisted by Sabur. To Finish out the half the dynamic duo of Kate Halcro and Mia MacMillan connected once more as Kate Halcro scored her first goal of the affair giving the Cobras a 5-goal lead going into the half.
In the third period of this game, the goal-scoring came to a sort of a standstill as both teams combined for 4 goals in total this period. The Cobras struck first as Mia MacMillan scored a free position shot the Cobras were down a man due to a Jessica Pintado yellow card. Coming off of her yellow card, however, Pintado scored her first goal of the game with a pass from Mia MacMillan. Chowan pulled a goal back in the 10th minute making the score of this game 10-4. Then Kate Halcro was assisted by Kaiya Sabur to return the Cobra lead to 7 right before the end of the 3rd period.
The 4th period of this game started off a bit slow for both parties as neither team could find the back of the net. The first goal of the period came from a free position shot from Mia MacMillan in the 8th minute of the period. A few minutes later Halcro scored her last goal of the game giving the Cobras a 9-goal lead of the Hawks. Chowan had one last surge of goals in them as the Cobras conceded twice in the last 2 minutes of the game making the score 13-6. However, the Cobras ended the day on a positive play as 5th-year senior Amanda Arguello scored the last goal of the contest with 19 seconds left in the period from a Kaiya Sabur assist to make the final score of this game 14-6.
