HOW IT HAPPENED
The Cobras started off this match-up the same as in previous games. The TMU Bears took an early lead as they scored the first goal of this contest a woman up in the 2 minute of the game. That goal struck a chord with your Coker Cobras as they proceeded to score 5 unanswered goals throughout the first period. The first of these goals came via Mia MacMillan. MacMillan scored in the 6th minute to tie up this game. The game came to a lull for a few minutes until MacMillan scored another unassisted goal as the Cobras were a woman down to take a late lead in the first period. The second goal for the Cobras got the ball rolling as a minute later MacMillan scored her third goal of the contest assisted by Kate Halcro to complete her hat trick. To finish out the period Kate Halcro and Leah Corely both scored goals to make the score 5-1 in favor of the Cobras going into the 2nd period of the game.
TMU started the 2nd period of this game the same as the first. The Bears struck first in the 2nd period with a goal from Savannah Watkins to claw a goal back making the score 5-2. Once again the Cobras struck back as Madeline Fontana scored an unassisted goal to bring the lead back to 4. Then two more familiar names found themselves back on the score sheet as Kate Halcro got her second on the day in the 7th minute of the game which was assisted by Mia MacMillan. A few moments later, Leah Corley was fouled and earned the Cobras a Free Position Shot which she took full advantage of scoring once again for the Cobras. Two minutes later Kate Halcro finished up her hat trick as she scored a wonderful goal fooling the keeper. The last minute of the period saw tons of action as TMU and Coker traded goals with Leah Corley finishing up her hat trick to keep the Coker lead at 7.
After the halftime break, the Cobras were ready to battle. Leah Corely once again found herself in a prime position with a FPS to bury her shot into the net and give the Cobras an 8-goal lead in the 1st minute of the 3rd period. TMU again made a strong charge down the field as they scored their 4th goal of this contest in the 2nd minute of the period. But, the Cobras captain', Mia MacMillan, didn't want this goal to go unanswered as she buried another Cobra goal into the net seconds after the Bears scored. Madeline Fontana didn't want the offense to have all the fun so she had an adventure to the front lines. On her adventure, she found herself in front of the Bear's goal and she made it count as she scored for her second on the day in the 8th minute of the period. Only 40 seconds later Kate Halcro wanted more glory on the day as she scored her 4th of the day with an assist from the 5th year senior Amanda Arguello. Mia MacMillan finished off the period strong for the Cobras as she slotted in two more goals for the Cobras bringing her total on the day to 6. More impressively she scored a second hat trick in this period alone.
The Bears attempted to make a late-game comeback as they scored two goals in the first 5 minutes of this final period. However, Madeline Fontana and Kaiya Sabur were having none of it. Fontana scored first this time around as Sabur played a sublime ball into her setting up Fontana for her 3rd goal on the day. After setting up Fontana, Sabur went on to score 2 unassisted goals to finish this game once and for all. With this Kaiya Sabur brace the Cobras went on to win this game 19-6 and bring a win streak to life.
