HOW IT HAPPENED:
Kate Halcro started the Cobras' season against Limestone on the draw control. Limestone quickly took the lead, leading 4-0 four minutes and nine seconds into the game. However, the Cobras turned up the heat on the Saints in the 8th minute of the game when Freshman Kate Halcro opened up her collegiate goal count with a beautiful finish past the Limestone Keeper. Halcro combined with the leader and captain of the team Mia MacMillan to make the score 1-4. Limestone started to build more and more into the game after the Cobras scored. Olivia Schmidt had a very good 1st period as she registered 6 saves with 3 of those saves coming from free position shots. The first period ended with a final score of 9-1 Limestone.
In the second period of the game, the Cobras' defense came up big, allowing only five goals. The Cobras had one opportunity to score a goal this period, but the Limestone goalkeeper made a wonderful save to stop Kaitlyn Mulligan's attempt. At the half, the Cobras were down 14-1.
At the start of the 3rd period, Coker showed a lot of heart as they continued to battle with Limestone. The Cobras changed their goalkeeper to Harper Davidson in the half to give the freshman her debut for the Cobras. Davidson registered 2 saves in the 3rd period. To go along with Davidson's goalkeeping, Kate Halcro scored her second goal of the game in the 37th minute of the game. This time Leah Corley was the Cobra to set up Halcro for her brace on the afternoon.
To end off the game Harper Davidson registered an additional 2 more saves to add to her career stats. Sadly the cobras couldn't put much together due to the Limestone defense. The final score of the Cobras home opener was 24-2 in favor of Limestone.
