Cobras Fall to Mountain Lions on Saturday (March 18th)

Hartsville, SC - The Coker University Women's Lacrosse Team dropped a mid-season match up against Mars Hill by a score of 11-6. 

Mars Hill was the first to score, an unassisted goal put in the back of the net by Samantha Newton. Despite Coker continuing to win the draw control early on, the Cobras were unable to land a ball in the back of the cage. Mars Hill was able to get off their second goal of the game, a free-position shot taken by Sydney Joyce, and take their lead up to 2-0. Amariah Lawson (assisted by Abby Gross) was the first Cobra to collect a goal, the score sitting at 2-1 with 1:53 left in the first quarter. Coker entered the second quarter hot, a goal quickly scored by Madeline Hart, bringing the game to a tie at 2-2. The Mountain Lions answered back with two goals of their own. To end the second quarter, Coker was able to get off one more goal (scored by Mia MacMillan) and Mars Hill was able to post two more goals. Entering the third quarter, Mars Hill was up by a score 6-3. 

Beginning the third quarter, Abby Gross (assisted by Amanda Arguello) scored her first goal of the game and put some momentum back into Coker. The score sitting at 6-4, Alexa Tazzetta found the back of the net once again and took the lead up to three. Hailey Morgan was able to get off one more goal to end the third quarter. Rounding the final quarter out, Mars Hill put two more goals into the back of the net and Coker was able to land one more; a driving shot from Amariah Lawson. The score finished at 11-6 with Mars Hill taking home the victory. 

Zoe Cotheran remained between the pipes for the entirety of the 60 minute game and registered nine save. 

The Cobras will be returning to the field on Saturday (March 25th) against Lincoln Memorial. The first draw control will be taken at 1:00 PM. Live streaming and stats will be available at www.cokercobras.com
