Cobras Down Southern Wesleyan 17-12

HARTSVILLE, S.C.- The Coker University women's lacrosse team defeated Southern Wesleyan University 17-12 in a non-conference matchup on Monday (Mar. 9).

Sophomore Meagan Gallagher got off to an impressive start with back to back goals in the first three minutes of play. Hannah Shuren found the back of the net in the next three minutes of play. Southern Wesleyan answered with their first goal at the 19-minute mark, continued their rally with two more goals. The rally came up short when the Cobras four goal run to close out the first half.

Gallagher picked up another goal in the second half, finishing with four total on the game. Shuren filled the box score with an impressive all-round performance scoring four goals, dishing out five assists, and causing two turnovers.

Six different Cobras scored in the game including, Alexis Zeagan Makenzie Stroup, and Gabby Jessup who each had one apiece. Olivia Fladung finished the game with six saves, while freshman Abby Kellner finished with eight. Coker had an impressive 13 caused turnovers on the game, and outshot Southern Wesleyan 32-27.

The Cobras will be back in action on Saturday (Mar. 14) when they travel to Mars Hill for a South Atlantic Conference matchup beginning at 4:00 PM. Live stats and video will be available at www.CokerCobras.com.
