Faith Kent Sets Single-Game Goals Record, Cobras Down Newberry 25-10

HARTSVILLE, S.C. -- The Coker College women's lacrosse team defeated Newberry 25-10 in a historic South Atlantic Conference contest on Tuesday (Mar. 19).

Faith Kent set the Coker single-game goals record, scoring 10 goals and dishing out a total of four assists in the contest. The 14 total points also ties her own single-game points record of 14 points that she set against Mars Hill last April. Coker also set a new total goals record of 25, beating their previous record of 23 goals scored twice before.

The Cobras actually trailed 8-5 with 7:37 remaining in the first half before going on a 20-2 run to close out the contest. Coker scored four times before the end of the half to take a 9-8 lead into the break.

They didn't waste any time scoring in the second half, as Hannah Shuren scored just 15 seconds into the frame. Shuren finished with three goals and one assist on the night. Meagan Gallagher also had a big night, scoring a career-high five goals and adding an assist for 6 total points. Bailey O'Brien and Alyssa Baronella-O'Toole each notched two goals apiece, while Alexis Zegan, Katie Driskell, and Reagan Parr each scored once.

Olivia Fladung was excellent in goal, recording the second most saves in a single game in Coker history with 17 saves. She allowed just two goals over the final 38 minutes.

The Cobras will be back in action on Saturday when they host Mars Hill for another South Atlantic Conference matchup. Game time is set for 6:00 p.m.
