Coker Set to Host Pioneers in Senior Day Matchup

HARTSVILLE, S.C. – The Coker College women's lacrosse team will be back at Byerly Park on Saturday (Apr. 4) for their final regular season home match against the visiting Tusculum College Pioneers. The matchup is set for 1 p.m. with live stats and video available at www.cokercobras.com.

The Cobras are 6-2 at home this season and were a perfect 4-0 at home in the month of March.

The Cobras have four players with 35 or more points on the season, led by freshman Claudia Jenkins and her team leading 40 points on 34 goals and six assists. She also leads Coker with 51 draw controls and 50 ground balls. Danielle Holcomb has 26 goals and a team-high 12 assists for a 38-point season, so far. Haley McCusker also has 26 goals while dishing out 10 assists totaling 36 points on the year. Mackenzie Baker has 35 points on 27 goals and eight assists.

Defensively, the Navy and Yellow are headed by SAC defensive player of the week Marabeth Durden. She has scooped up 36 ground balls, won 28 draw controls and has 18 caused turnovers on the season. In goal, Kaitlyn Vela has 80 saves in 660 minutes between the pipes.

The Pioneers hit the road with a 9-2 overall and 5-1 in conference record. They are led by SAC leading scorer Kelsey Crow who has 43 goals on the year.

Saturday's match will be senior day for the three seniors on the Coker roster. They are Millie Rogers, Shannon Jessop and Cassandra Dembik.

Match is set for a 1 p.m. start at Byerly Park.
