
Coker's Durden Named AstroTurf SAC Player of the Week
Coker's Marabeth Durden was named the AstroTurf SAC Defensive Player of the Week after her hat-trick performance against Newberry College on Saturday (Feb. 21).
HARTSVILLE, S.C. – Coker College women's lacrosse player Marabeth Durden has been named the AstroTurf South Atlantic Conference Women's Lacrosse Defensive Player of the Week, the league office announced today. This is Coker's second straight SAC player of the week award.
Durden scored three goals on three shots to notch a hat-trick in Coker's 20-12 rout of the Newberry Wolves on Saturday (Feb. 21). Defensively, the Cobra captain caused three turnovers, scooped up five ground balls and recorded nine draw controls to lead Coker to a 1-0 start in SAC play.
Durden leads the SAC with seven caused turnovers, while ranking fourth in draw controls (11) and seventh in ground balls (12)..
A sophomore defender from Orlando, Fla., Durden is an education major with a concentration in early childhood education. She is the daughter of Mitzi and Karl Sheppard and Michael and Lisa Durden.
