Women’s Golf Finishes Tied for Fourth, Gyoni Named to All-Tournament Team with Individual Fourth Place Finish

SALISBURY, N.C. - Coker University Women's Golf finished in a tie for fourth place as a team, while Daniella Gyoni finished fourth individually at the Patsy Rendleman Invitational on Tuesday (Oct. 4).

Gyoni finished in fourth place individually, turning in an 80 on the day to bring her tournament total to 153. Kathleen Escobar finished with an 82 on the day to bring her tournament total to 159 to finish tied for 16th, while Mack Taylor Bailey finished two shots better than yesterday for a 79 to finish at 160 in a tie for 19th. Jenna Werle turned in a 79 today for a tournament total of 163, while Lora Ledbetter carded an 85 for a tournament score of 168.

"Our ladies were not happy with their performance today, but we are making great strides in being in contention, and competitive, each week, which is fun," said head coach John Hackney. We just had too many big numbers today and did not putt well, but it is just real exciting to see our improvement. Hats off to Daniella for finishing fourth to make the All-Tournament Team. She had the lead at the turn, but two doubles and a triple on the back nine derailed her chances of taking medalist honors. Jenna played well but just didn't putt well and Mack just wasn't able to ever get any momentum going on the tricky greens and in the wind. Both of them shot 79 to lead our squad. The future is bright for this team, which is now beginning to understand how good it can be."

The Cobras return to the links on Oct. 17 for the Jekyll Island Intercollegiate at Pine Lakes Golf Course in Jekyll Island, Ga.
